FUT hair transplant

In our specialised hair clinics, your Hair Doctors® treatment team has only one goal: the best possible result for your hair transplant. First, your hair surgeon defines the area from which the strip of skin will be taken to obtain the hair follicles for transplanting. After a local anaesthetic, your specialist can then remove this narrow strip covered with dense hair from the donor area. Thanks to a special adhesive and suturing technique, the remaining scar is barely visible, even with short haircuts.

At Hair Doctors, not only your specialist is involved in your transplant, but also four to eight of our in-house trained hair technicians. They separate the hair follicles (grafts) from the strip of skin that has just been removed, free them from interfering surrounding tissue and prepare them for reimplantation in the so-called recipient area. This work, which calls for great manual skill and concentration, is carried out at Hair Doctors under state-of-the-art, high-resolution light microscopes. The grafts extracted in this way – each carrying one to four individual hairs – are then pre-sorted and placed in a special growth solution. This ensures that the hair can take root better for an optimal result. With FUT, up to 3,000 grafts per day can be transplanted at Hair Doctors. That corresponds to about 7,500 individual hairs.

Now the grafts are ready for transplantation. Before they can be reinserted, however, your hair surgeon first prepares the recipient area with small incisions in the scalp, using a needle (punch) or scalpel (slit). The fully prepared hair follicles are then placed into these tiny channels using high-precision watchmaker’s tweezers. Your new hair pattern comes together step by step, like a jigsaw puzzle. Within a few days, the implanted hair follicles are anchored and have fully taken root in your scalp.

A long day is drawing to a close. But now we need your attention once more: after the operation, we give you a detailed explanation of how to care for your hair and you receive our stimulating hair shampoo for washing your hair in the first few days.

After approx. 2–3 weeks you come back to us to have the stitches at the back of your head removed. At the same time, we carry out a first check-up together to see whether the transplanted hair has taken properly and the new hair follicles are healthy. After a resting phase, your new hair starts to grow about 2–3 months after your treatment. We expect the final aesthetic result after about 12 months. By then at the latest, we will of course invite you to another appointment with us. After all, shared joy is the greatest joy.
