For many types of hair loss, a hair transplant is a suitable solution for getting fuller hair again or for filling bald areas with hair again. But even when there is no hair left, many people want to have a transplant. With complete baldness, however, a number of factors have to be taken into account that are less important for smaller bald areas. It is important to point out here that a single hair transplant session is rarely enough to achieve visually very good results. But even with a multi-stage treatment concept, there are great options and ways of achieving aesthetic and attractive results even with complete baldness – even if such a reconstruction may take more time than expected. An honest and transparent consultation will quickly and directly show you all the possibilities, but also the limits of what modern hair transplants can do.
Can a hair transplant give you full hair again if you are completely bald?
Many people who are already completely bald would like to have full hair again. Whether this is possible has to be determined in an individual consultation. Because a hair transplant always requires suitable donor hair, this is taken from the back of the head in the case of a thinning crown, for example. If there is no hair left there at all with complete baldness, we analyse whether there are still follicles that can be stimulated to grow hair and transplanted.
If there are no suitable hair follicles left, full hair is not an option. There are, however, methods that create the appearance of very short hair rather than complete baldness.
How does a hair transplant work with complete baldness?
The prerequisite for a hair transplant with complete baldness is that you still have enough follicles that can be removed and transplanted. If they are still there, hair specialists can carefully remove them, prepare them accordingly and insert them again. As a complement, we recommend scalp micropigmentation, which completes the result.
We explain scalp micropigmentation
What happens during treatment for hair loss with complete baldness?
If a hair transplant is possible, the existing follicles are removed one by one and placed in a special growth solution. This then helps the follicle to take again and form new hairs.
The areas of the scalp where the follicles are to be inserted are prepared with a tiny hollow needle. The hair surgeon inserts the follicles into these small holes. Complementary therapy with your own blood makes sense here.
In a treatment with your own blood, the follicles are stimulated to grow new hair. With this method, the cells also regenerate faster. Ideally, therapy with your own blood does not consist of a single application but is carried out at intervals of a few months. This actively supports the transplanted hair in growing back better and stronger after the transplant.
To achieve an attractive overall look, scalp micropigmentation is also often recommended. In scalp micropigmentation, tiny dots of pigment are placed directly beneath the surface of the scalp. The aim is that after the treatment it looks as if there are small hairs all over the head.
The pigmentation is carried out with a computer-controlled pen that simulates small stubble.
As the pigments do not lie deep under the skin, they fade after a while. In addition, the ink that Hair Doctors uses is hypoallergenic (i.e. unproblematic if you have existing allergies) and made from 100% natural ingredients. The body can break it down completely in a natural way via its lymphatic system. That is why at Hair Doctors we recommend refreshing scalp micropigmentation after about 3–4 years, so that the result always looks attractive and gives you lasting pleasure in the long term.

What does a hair transplant cost?
Transplanting hair with complete baldness is considered a large hair transplant and costs between €5,500 and €8,500. As already mentioned: with corresponding expectations, you should usually plan for 2 treatment sessions to create full, attractive new hair coverage. The consultations are of course included in the price, as are the anaesthesia, the stay at the clinic with patient lounge and all necessary medication on the day of treatment.
For residents of Germany, Hair Doctors also offers financing that allows you to spread the hair transplant costs over a longer period, just as you wish.
